Exploring Elements of Project Design


Class meets at 1112 Price Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201 from 6-9p on Friday, 9-5 on Saturday, and 1-5 on Sunday.

Class fee is 125.00.  A non-refundable deposit of 30.00 will reserve your place.

Explore key elements of project design in greater depth, including how to select and read a weaving draft, how to test and evaluate differences in sett and beat, how to change treadling and tie-up to create variations in pattern, how to calculate how much yarn your project requires and how much your project will shrink when it comes off the loom. Participants will create several samples and gain confidence in experimentation.

Warps will be prepared for you in advance so that you can focus on dressing the loom and specific weaving skills.  Class will meet on Friday from 6-9, Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 1-5.  This class builds weaving skills and is appropriate for beginning or intermediate weavers, some experience with warping a loom is expected. 

Total cost of the class is 125.00.  A non-refundable deposit of 30.00 will reserve your place.  The balance is due the first day of class and can be paid with cash, check or charge.  Members of the Columbia Fiber Arts Guild will receive a 5% discount. Class fee includes all supplies, instruction, and use of a floor loom.
